Northumbria University Hockey Pitch Development Fund

Can you help us fundraise for the future of Northumbria Hockey?

At Northumbria, sport is at the heart of our strategy to widening participation, and we are working hard to enable more students to pursue active lifestyles and develop leadership skills. As a priority, we are currently seeking funding for a new hockey pitch as the current pitch at Coach Lane is over 20 years old and no longer playable.

In recent years the membership of the Northumbria University Hockey Club has almost tripled in size. As the popularity of hockey continues to grow both regionally and nationally, we want to provide our students with facilities that allow them to enhance their skills and continue to grow Northumbria's reputation for sporting excellence.

A new pitch will ensure that our 6 hockey teams and over 100 members, have access to their own high-quality facility on campus, rather than having to use external pitches. It will enable more students to take part in hockey and other sports as participants and coaches and will support the delivery of practical teaching sessions and research.

"As a student at Northumbria, hockey was such an important and integral part of my university experience. It allowed me to make friends, enhance my leadership skills and ultimately, have lots of fun. I truly believe that your investment into this project will have huge impact on those who play hockey and those who wish to begin.”
