Make this Giving Tuesday matter for Northumbria students 

Giving Tuesday is a day of global giving celebrated each year on the 29th November. It is a day when everyone everywhere can do something to support important causes. We are asking our alumni, and other supporters of the University, to donate the cost of a cup of coffee to help Northumbria’s most vulnerable students. 

Students from disadvantaged backgrounds are one of the groups bearing the brunt of the cost-of-living crisis. As a result, they are more likely to:

• Abandon their degree to find full-time work • Take on more part-time work • Cut back on food • Struggle with stress and anxiety

At Northumbria, we’ve seen a 69% increase in requests for financial assistance and a 30% rise in students accessing our foodbank and, consequently, our hardship fund is struggling to keep up.
